In Our Words

Husband and wife team Brian and Keisha Williams are Bay area natives that bring a San Franciscan charm and culinary creativity to their cupcake bakery That Takes the Cake.

Brian?s former career was based on customer service and marketing and Keisha?s former career extends from customer service to human resources. Once we realized we had to share our love through baked goods, Keisha enrolled in CCA?s baking & pastry program and our journey began.

Since opening on Union Street in 2007, That Takes the Cake continues to delight discerning customers with more than 20 different cupcake flavors featuring playful names such as ?Gentlemen Prefer Reds? (red velvet), ?Prom Queen? (strawberry) and Three?s Company (Neapolitan cake). That Takes the Cake bakes daily using fresh ingredients and nostalgia that you can taste, and sells discounted day-old cupcakes. The store also focuses heavily on service with a smile, and often allows customers to pick up orders after hours. For brides and grooms, That Takes the Cake offers bachelor, bachelorette and wedding-themed cupcakes. After eating one of their specialties, Brian and Keisha think you?ll agree that cupcakes equal happiness. The store also partners with a vegan kitchen to make special order cupcakes for those with special foods needs.
